As we’ve already talked about, the cool thing about Wordpress is all of the extra goodies and functionality that you can add to your website at absolutely no cost.  Of course, when it comes to affiliate marketing, it’s often best to keep your site simple so that people are not distracted from your affiliate offer.  Therefore, there aren’t really that many plugins that you’ll need to install.  Here is a list of plugins that you should consider and a description of what they do.

1.  All in one SEO pack.  This plugin will “search engine optimize” your affiliate marketing site making it more Google friendly so that you can rank higher in search engine results.

2.  Pretty Link.  This plugin will allow you to “cloak” your affiliate links for free.  It is discussed further in the video on cloaking affiliate links.

3.  Blog Re-ordering.  By default, Wordpress shows your most recent posts first.  This is great for blogging but doesn’t work so well if you are
trying to create a more traditional looking website or want to reorganize your posts into a certain order within your categories.  The blog reordering plugin allows you to organize your posts in any order and also allows you to make a post “sticky” so that it is always the post that people see when they arrive at the main page of your site.  This allows you, in effect, to create a post that acts like a homepage.

4.  Google XML sitemaps.  This plugin creates a “sitemap” and submits it to the search engines, ensuring that search engine spiders find all of your content.

5.  Ultimate Google Analytics- Once you’ve got your site up and running, you’ll want to set up a Google Analytics account and then install this plugin which will allow you to easily integrate Google Analytics into your Wordpress site.  Google Analytics will give you incredibly detailed information on how many visitors are coming to your site, where your traffic is coming from, what pages they are viewing on your site, which keywords are bringing in traffic and so much more.

6.  Contact Form 7.  This plugin allows you to create a professional looking contact page which visitors can use to make inquiries.
