The Wealthy Affiliate University

The Wealthy Affiliate University is a membership site offering educational resources and online affiliate marketing tools in a community like setting which allows its members to communicate with and  educate each other on the latest online marketing techniques.  I joined several months ago so that I could review it for members of ReviewAroo.com.

First Impressions

The first thing that struck me upon visiting the Wealthy Affiliate was how well the site is designed and laid out which makes it incredibly easy to quickly navigate and find exactly what you are looking for.  The resources are very well organized and easy to access. The Wealthy Affiliate site is also very slick looking. This may be a small point, but having a site that’s nice to look at makes it a lot more fun to use.

Features and Content

Of course, functionality and style are one thing – useful content is quite another. Fortunately, the Wealthy Affiliate earns big points here too as it very quickly became obvious that the creators of the Wealthy Affiliate have taken very seriously their stated goal of making the Wealthy Affiliate “the best resource available to aspiring, intermediate, and expert Internet marketers.” Some of the Wealthy Affiliate’s most notable features include:

1. Wealthy Affiliate 8 Week Action Plan – Immediately upon joining the Wealthy Affiliate, you will begin your education with The Wealthy Affiliate’s 8 Week Action Plan. The plan is designed for marketers of any experience level. At the beginning of each week, you are given access to a new module of the action plan which contains lessons, up-to-date resources, tutorials, videos and step by step guides. In addition, you are given a set of weekly tasks designed to ensure that you are taking action toward your success. To me, this was one of the most exciting aspects of the Wealthy Affiliate University because it provides a structured environment in which you work toward your goals. Instead of being overwhelmed and paralyzed, Wealthy Affiliate members should find themselves excited to learn and get to work implementing what they have learned.

2. The Wealthy Affiliate Forum – The traditional psyche of many great Internet marketers has been to hide their secrets. The creators of the Wealthy Affiliate are of the view that there is more than enough opportunity for everyone to be successful online and they encourage their members to take a different approach and share all of their expertise with others in order to strengthen the community. This philosophy is very evident throughout the Wealthy Affiliate’s forum which is a goldmine of internet marketing information. New members are encouraged not only to introduce themselves to other Wealthy Affiliate members through the forums but to ask questions about any aspect of internet marketing which are then answered by more senior Wealthy Affiliate members of the community including the site’s creators and several other very well known (and successful) internet marketers who are regular participants in the Wealthy Affiliate forum. In my view, this is incredibly valuable because it accelerates the learning process greatly. Instead of simply fumbling through the trial and error process, you can draw from the knowledge of others in the community and succeed at a much faster rate. I was struck by how many Wealthy Affiliate members were participating and helping each other with patience and respect regardless of their skill level or experience.

3. The Wealthy Affiliate Learning Center – The Wealthy Affiliate’s learning Center is broken up into 3 sections: Junior, Intermediate and Senior. I was particularly interested to see how the Wealthy Affiliate would go about getting people with no experience in internet marketing off the ground. Big marks here too as the fundamentals are laid out with easy to follow explanations and tasks designed to get new members started right away. If you already have some experience with internet marketing, the Intermediate and Senior sections contain a vast amount of information and resources directed at advanced marketing techniques. Even the most seasoned internet marketer will discover mistakes that they are making and new techniques that they were unaware of.

4. Wealthy Affiliate Research Center - The research center features great research tools including a Google keywords research tool, a Clickbank research tool, tools to analyze competition, keyword generators and keyword phrase builder, all of which are designed to save time and money.

5. Wealthy Affiliate Web site Center – The Wealthy Affiliate website Center provides a series of tools that allow you to create your own websites from scratch. This can be a valuable feature for those who are ready to tackle the creation of their own site but don’t want to pay a web designer big bucks to do it.  Wealthy Affiliate also offers free web hosting for all members so you can host your sites on Wealthy Affiliate’s servers instead of paying for separate web hosting.

6. Wealthy Affiliate NicheQ Research System – A big component to internet marketing is finding a “niche” market that needs a solution to a problem (weight loss, for example) and then finding a product to market to them that solves their problem (fat loss eBook, for example). The Wealthy Affiliate NicheQ feature provides detailed reporting on various niche markets with exceptional detail and market analysis to help Wealthy Affiliate members identify the hottest niches to market to.

Criticisms

If I had to voice any concern at all, it would be with the free web hosting offered at Wealthy Affiliate.  It’s great for someone just starting out but if your plan is to build a serious affiliate marketing business, you are going to need hosting that’s a little more robust.  Also, the web hosting  is only available to you for so long as you remain a member (which is fair enough) so if you host there and decide to give up your membership, you’ll have to transfer any sites that you’ve built to a new web host.  Of course, as mentioned, the hosting at Wealthy Affiliate is free so it’s really not fair of me to take issue on either of these points.  In the end, my concerns are more of a recommendation to consider hosting your sites  elsewhere than a criticism of Wealthy Affiliate University.

The Bottom Line

The resources and tools described above really only scratch the surface of what you receive as a Wealthy Affiliate member and the price is equal to the cost of about one coffee a day. In my view, the value that members receive in return is well worth it. There is just so much information and so many tools packed into such a well organized and easy to use site that there is no doubt in my mind that you will not only save a lot of time, aggravation and money in getting your business running but you will also make far more money in the long run as a result of using the site. Even as a more experienced internet marketer, I learn something new there every day.
