Online Business Alliance is an organization owned by veteran internet marketer David Gray which promises a complete turnkey internet marketing business.  New members pay $5 to join the organization and, in exchange, they receive a $5 ebook  written by Mr. Gray.  The titles include”Stop Being a Victim”, a “Glimpse of Tomorrow”, “Impact Web Audio” and “Stacked Income”.

Initial Impressions.

The first thing that I noticed about the Online Business Alliance website was that it has a look and feel that suggests that it was made in about 1996.  Although this could be considered refreshing in this day and age of slick website graphics and over-hyped scams,  unfortunately, the olde time horse and buggy vibe carries over to the functionality of  the ordering process which seemed to involve an endless number of steps to complete and pages to visit.

Even after a customer FINALLY  makes his or her credit card payment, the site makes them close the credit card payment page, go back to the previous order page and THEN enter details of how they made their payment AND their credit card confirmation number.  Even after all of that, you still aren’t permitted to download your ebook until after David Gray has manually reviewed and confirmed the payment. 16 hours after I placed my order, I was still waiting for my download which is more than a little bizarre  for an internet marketing company that sells information products.

How Online Business Alliance Works.

Once you have downloaded your ebook, you are given full “resale” rights to the book as well as the other titles mentioned above.  That means that you are completely free to resell them to other people and keep 100% of the profits.

Now, although this may sound attractive to someone just getting their start with internet marketing, the prospect of being able to effectively sell these books on any kind of large scale is very low as the appearance and content is what you would expect from an ebook being given away as a free bonus on the sale of another, more attractive product.  So, although you might be able to really hustle and sell the odd copy here and there, the chances of building any kind of substantial business out of the resale of Online Business Alliance ebooks is very low.

In addition to resale rights to the ebooks, members are given the option to participate in a program where they can earn residual affiliate income from the sale of ad space on the Online Business Alliance system.  In order to be eligible, you are required to pay a one time set-up fee of $10 as well as a $30 fee to lease advertising space.  You are then able to “sub-lease” the ad space to other people and keep 100% of the profits plus a portion of ad space that the person below you sells.

Although this kind of arrangement may sound a little like a pyramid scheme, it technically isn’t.  Again though, you have to ask yourself how much of a demand there is for advertising space with the Online Business Alliance (hint: not a whole lot!).  So, just like the ebook, you may sell a little bit if you really work hard at it, but the prospects for building wealth just aren’t there.

Having said this, many members of the Online Business Alliance swear by it and love what they are doing.  The program boasts a “family atmosphere” where members work to help each other succeed.  Obviously, these are factors to be considered when deciding whether to participate and if you are just looking to meet some nice people and have a little fun kicking the internet marketing tires, at $5 to start, the price is certainly right.  However, anyone looking to  build an internet marketing business would be better off focusing their time and effort selling products that are more attractive than what Online Business Alliance has to offer.
