ClickBank Hoplinks and Affiliate Sales Tracking
At this point, you’ve done your market research and decided on a ClickBank product that you want to promote.
In this tutorial, we’ll discuss how to get your unique affiliate link for the product which will track your affiliate sales and commissions. We’ll also talk about some ClickBank tracking techniques which will help you determine where your sales are coming from if you are posting your affiliate link in more than one place. ClickBank refers to its affiliate codes as “hoplinks”. Each time you choose a new ClickBank product to market, you create a unique hoplink. When someone clicks on your hoplink and makes a purchase, the ClickBank network records the purchase in your ClickBank account, showing exactly what product was sold, who the purchaser was and their email address, when the sale was made and how much your affiliate commission was on the sale.
To create a hoplink, go to the ClickBank Marketplace ==> http://www.clickbank.com/marketplace.htm. Locate the product that you want to promote.
Next, click the “create hoplink” button.

In this case, you are going to market the product called “CB Pirate”. When you click “create HopLink”, a window will pop up asking you to type in your Clickbank nickname and tracking ID (optional). To create your hoplink, simply type the Clickbank nickname that you chose upon signing up.
You will then see the following screen displaying your “hoplink” which you can then copy and paste anywhere on the internet. When someone clicks on your hoplink and a sale is made, the affiliate commission is credited to your ClickBank account!
ClickBank Tracking Links
As mentioned above, when you type in your ClickBank nickname to create your hoplink, you are given the option of inserting a “Tracking ID”. The purpose of a tracking ID is to keep track of where your sales are coming from.
For example, let’s say Mary wants to post a link to a ClickBank product in a blog article that she has written but also wants to put her hoplink on another website she owns. She wants to track her sales to see where they are coming from (blog vs. web site).
To do this, she would create her hoplink twice, inserting a different tracking ID of her choice each time. So, for the first one she might choose to insert a tracking ID called “blog” and in the second maybe she would choose the tracking ID “website”. She would then have two slightly different tracking codes – one that she can insert on her blog and the other which she can put on her web site. ClickBank will then keep track of her stats for both so that she can see where her sales and commissions are coming from which will help her determine where to concentrate her affiliate marketing efforts.
